About Craig Groove
Craig Groove is a multi platinum producer, engineer and producer trainer who connects with his students to challenge them to reach their hidden potential. Craig is an example of music as a state of mind and being, as felt by the pounding beats and mesmerizing keys in his tracks. His rare ability to switch genres from Hip Hop to Rock to Pop to R&B has enabled him to have longevity in the business. His mission is to be a voice that inspires, drives, and compels others to greatness by example while empowering them to have the “I Can” attitude towards their dreams.
Craig’s actual career began in 1975 at the tender age of four when his father organized a family musical group called “the Stevens Brothers”. Craig was the drummer and the youngest out of four in the group. By 1980 the group had become hometown favorites appearing on every local television network as rising stars. The Stevens Brothers recorded and released their first single "Love Crazy" nationally in 1982 under an independent label. Soon after their second release "Smoke and Fire" the group caught the attention of the late Marvin Gaye who was in the process of signing the brothers to a production deal. Tragically upon his untimely death the deal was never completed. The group went on to have moderate success but slowly dissipated in the late 80’s; however the musical spirit of Craig did not.
After virtually growing up on stage as a young performer, he later began to explore life behind the scenes. By the time Craig entered high school he found he had a natural ability to create music for up and coming local artists and quickly found his true calling.
Craig Groove went on to remix and produce songs for some of the biggest artist in the business such as Nelly (Universal) Baby Bash (Universal), Chris Brown (Sony/BMG/Jive), Bloodhound Gang (Interscope/Geffen) Prophet Jones (Universal/Motown) Stevie Wonder (Universal/Motown) and many more.
After realizing that he had an ability to articulate and demonstrate what he had learned over the years, Craig decided he could leave a legacy to the next generation of producers. In 2005 Craig released the first in a series of “How To” tutorial DVDs for up-and-coming producers entitled… “Learn How to Remix”. His follow-up DVD was released in 2008 entitled “Production Tips and Techniques”. Craig’s most recent DVD is geared toward helping aspiring producers get tracks and remixes placed as well as learning the business entitled… “Learn The Business Of The Game”. With DVD sales from over 30 countries around the world Craig decided it was time to go to the next level and start his online school called Craig Groove University Online. .
"Thanks to God and modern technology I now have the ability to reach an even wider audience with this knowledge right from the comfort of my own studio. I was overwhelmed to learn just how many young people around the world aspire to create music just as I did. I will never forget what it was like to want something really bad but not know how to get it. So my mission is to help teach the next generation of beat makers how they too can become a world-class producer."
